I come from an ordinary rural farming family, and our household sustains itself solely on the income from farming. In the past, the policies on compulsory education alleviated the already minimal tuition fees for elementary and middle school. However, those benefits have disappeared now, and university tuition has skyrocketed several times over. This has made me quite anxious, so I raised my concerns with my mother. She told me, "You just go ahead and study; even if I have to work in a coal mine, I'll make sure you go to university!" At that moment, I vowed to myself that I would study hard in college, strive for scholarships, and ease my family's financial burden. In June 2019, I faced a major life test—the college entrance examination. It was the final assessment of my twelve years of schooling and a test that would determine my future path. Despite some mistakes, I eventually received a university admission letter, fulfilling my long-held dream of going to college. My parents, relatives, and friends were all happy for me, but I knew that the road ahead would be even tougher.
I am not lucky, but I am fortunate. Thanks to the referral from Teacher Ran, I received a scholarship from the Care Action Macao Education Fund, which undoubtedly paved the way for my future and relieved many of my worries about my studies. I was deeply moved and genuinely grateful to them. I know the opportunity to attend school did not come easily, so I have been diligent and hardworking, never daring to slack off. I have always studied hard and maintained top grades in my class. As a class officer, I responsibly completed every task assigned to me. I hold myself to high standards, constantly striving to improve and perfect myself. Hard work pays off, and due to my relentless efforts over the past year, my academic performance has ranked among the top in my grade.
Gratitude should be repaid manifold. I cherish this hard-earned scholarship and will do my utmost to repay the kindness of the good people from the Macao Loving Care Foundation. I will keep this love in my heart and pass on the flame of this kindness. As the saying goes, "The world gives me a chance, and I will return the world a miracle." Now that you have given me an opportunity, I believe that in the near future, I will create a miracle.
Now, as I begin my second year of graduate studies, I have reached a new starting point. Regardless of the past, I will face the future with a renewed spirit, using my own hands to create my own miracles. At the same time, I will continue to pass on this love!
