Li Wentao, Gansu:
Helping Me Create a Brilliant Life

Reflecting on the past two exciting years of my university life, I realize that without the support and encouragement from Care Action Macao, I would have struggled immensely, and my dream of attending university might have remained just a hopeful illusion. My university experience has been truly enriching and colorful. From the initial nervousness of my freshman year to the maturity of my third year, I have grown significantly. After the military training in my freshman year, I immersed myself in my studies. Although I felt homesick initially—being away from home for the first time and knowing no one around—modern technology allowed me to stay in touch with my family via video calls, and I overcame my negative emotions within a month.

In my freshman year, I actively joined the Communist Youth League of China and became a full member in my sophomore year. Now, as a proud member of the Youth League, I have been twice recognized as an outstanding member in my class's Youth League branch. I have built a harmonious relationship with my roommates and participated in the school’s dormitory culture competition, winning first prize at the college level and third prize at the university level, along with the honor of being named an "Excellent Dorm Leader."

During my sophomore year, I served as the class publicity officer and E-Class liaison. I cherished this opportunity to enhance my communication skills. Over the past two years, I have not failed any courses, maintaining scores above 70 in all subjects. At the beginning of my third year, I applied for the National Inspirational Scholarship. Besides my academic pursuits, I actively participated in volunteer activities, joining my school’s China Light Industry Museum team. To date, I have accumulated 279 hours of volunteer service.

Our original internship plans were canceled due to the pandemic, and the school sports meet was held only once. Without the help of Care Action Macao, I would not have had the chance to experience this vibrant university life, enjoy the school's advanced teaching resources, and excellent learning environment, or receive such a professional higher education. At this moment, all I can say is thank you.

I come from a large family where my parents have no stable income. Due to the heavy family burden, my parents work from dawn to dusk to make ends meet, and my father has fallen ill from overwork. Faced with the high cost of university tuition, my family was at a loss until the uncles and aunts from the foundation extended a helping hand. I told myself that I must become a "dandelion," spreading the selfless and vast love of Care Action Macao to wherever I go and to those in need.

In the face of such continuous support, I must remember the advice of my parents and teachers, discard any worries, study diligently, work hard, and cherish every penny. I will set my ideals, clarify my study goals, and approach my education with confidence and determination. By honing my skills and achieving excellence, I aim to lay a solid foundation for future contributions to my country and society. I am deeply grateful to the uncles and aunts of Care Action Macao for their assistance. Walking the path ahead will be a testament to courage and confidence, and I will use my youthful passion and perseverance to create an even more brilliant life.
